Taboo GT - Building Guide
91. Prepare one of the main pushrod housings, insert the rod into it, insert the housing through the notch in the bulkhead. Hold the pushrod housing and the antenna housing tubes together as shown.
92. Pour a small puddle of medium CA into the crevice between the tailboom and the fuselage wall.
93. Drop the two teflon tubes into the crevice. Apply more CA if needed to fill the crevice almost to the top. Kick the CA with accelerator or wait until it sets on its own for best strength.
94. Pull the teflon tube at the rear end slightly. Apply a drop of medium CA to the tailboom under the teflon tube. Press the tube to the tailboom and kick the CA to attach the tube in the slightly stretched condition.
95. Pull out the carbon rod temporarily, cut off the extra teflon tube at the rear end, insert the rod back into the tube.
96. Run a thin CA down the teflon tube, one tiny drop at a time. Let the glue run along the tube as much as it will do, then add another small drop.
97. Repeat the procedure on the other side of the fuselage.
98. Pushrod housing dropped into the puddle of CA in the crevice between the boom and fuselage wall.
99. Important - the rudder pushrod and control horn must be on the outer side of the model. If you are a right-handed pilot and launch the model by the left wing tip, the ruder pushrod must be on the right side! For the rudder pushrod, leave the last 3-4" of the housing free, attach the pushrod starting at the middle of the stab mount. The rear end of the pushrod will later be supported by a balsa web.
100. Cut the rear end of the rudder pushrod housing about 10-15mm short of the tailboom end.
101. Now is a good time to attach the top end of the bulkhead and the the pushrod housings where they go though the bulkhead. Use a liberal amount of glue to form a fillet on both sides of the bulkhead.
102. For added reliability, reinforce the boom attachment with fiberglass. Cut a strip on a bias (45 degrees to the fibers).
103. Spray the fiberglass with 3M77 and stick it to the tailboom and fuselage walls over the joint.
104. Wet out the fiberglass with CA or laminating epoxy.
105. The tailboom joint reinforcement is cured. Use a black marker to make it look dark if you prefer.
